Can We Be Healed

He sent his word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction, Psalms 107:20 (New American Standard)

Since I began this journey of writing, my desire has always been to be healed of past hurts and wounds. I thought by some magic, myth or spiritual insight, I might read a word or write words that could bring healing to myself and others.

I believe that I have obtained strength, knowledge, and some healing on my journey. However, there are some things that only God can heal. Today we reflect on the tragic incidents of 911. Many lost their lives and the images of their deaths have been replayed over and over again. The tragedy has been implanted in our thoughts to invade our dreams. On this day, I have to ask, will we ever be delivered from the dis-ease of the images and pain from the lives taken?

I also question should would we be healed? Should we be allowed to recover from the horrendous act that caused innocent people to die for things that where beyond their understanding and control? Our discomfort has kept us alert, reminding us that there are those that wish to destroy us, simply because we exist.

Maybe our prayers for healing should befall the very ones with so much hatred in their hearts, that they would use the innocent as pawns in their chest game of torture. Lives have forever been changed. Our precious jewels of life were annihilated before their time and the images of their deaths were engraved in the minds of our young.  While some may feel fear or hatered from the devastation suffered and the lives lost; my mind still commands my lips to ask God to send a word that will heal us all from our dis-ease.
